We will meet at the Fourteen Locks Canal Centre at 9.30am and car share to Nine Mile point car park in Caerphilly Sirhowy Valley Country Park. This car park is signposted from the A467 at Cross Keys. If it is easier for you to go straight to the car park please be there by 10am. The first few spaces in the smaller car park are free, or you can continue through to the next car park, if full, which is £3 all day.Toliets are available here and the total lenght of this walk is 7 miles. We will start our walk to climb Mynyddislwyn. The path is steep and muddy and will take roughly one hour to reach the top. At the top the path is narrow and drops to single file, on the moorlands there are sections where it will be extremely uneven underfoot, there is no protection from the wind and the temperature can drop to freezing. Good walking shoes are a must, waterproofs, hat and pack extra warm clothing. Please bring water, snacks and any medication needed. If the weather is extremely bad on the day we will change the route and stay along the old tramroad walk. Length and duration will still be the same.
