The first walk with Fourteen locks and Newport city council partnership will be a beautiful woodland walk through Mescoed Mawr, Craig-y-Wenallt, Graig-y-Merchant to pant-yr-eos reservoir and back along the canal to the centre. Any inclines or descents along this walk are no longer than 10 minutes. Paths are natural and uneven in places and drop to single file. The overall distance is 8 miles and will take between 3 and 4 hours depending on pace. Our walk leader will be Marc Benson (countryside warden) for Newport.

Apart from bluebells there are many other plants and trees to see along the way, including lots of wildlife.

Please arrive by 9.45 at the centre as a register will be completed. You MUST bring any medication needed e.g diabetes, asthma, allergies or other. Please discuss your medication needs with myself, Kate, or Marc before we set out.  Wear appropriate clothing and footwear, bring water and be aware that there are no bathrooms along this route!!
