Health and Safety - bring water, lunch / snacks. Terrain is steep and uneven. Please inform Kate, Marc or Liz on the day of any injury or medication requirements.
Date - Saturday 26th January
Start time - 9.30am start from Fourteen Locks Canal Centre. Free Parking
Difficulty - moderate, you do need to have some level of fitness to complete the walk comfortably. This walk has an elevation of 465 m
End time - 15.00pm approx
Distance -11 Miles. PLEASE BE AWARE THERE WILL NOT BE A PICK UP VEHICLE ON THE DAY
Route - Start at fourteen locks with a short walk along the canal and through the welfare growns. We start the ascent up and over Machen mountain returning along the sirhowy valley walk. There are 4 styles to climb on this route. We will be stopping at the little TA pub in rogerstone on the way back or you are welcome to carry on to the centre.
Clothing - Sturdy walking shoes a must, extra layers of warm clothing/hat and waterproofs. Some areas of the path are very muddy, slightly overgrown and uneven. Walking sticks are completely your choice but not a necessity.
